Transform the well-being of your community.

Seagull Keiki.jpgBlue Zones Project® is a well-being movement that is transforming the lives of residents throughout the country, enabling them to live longer, better lives.

Through this health and well-being initative, you and your neighbors can help transform your environment - where you live,  learn, work and play - into a place where the healthy choice, is the easy choice.

Three communities have already joined the movement: North Hawaii and East Hawaii on the Big Island, and Koolaupoko on the Windward side of Oahu. And more communities have just been announced:

"I wish I would've done this 20 years ago! I finally got smart at 82-years-old. I lost 44 pounds within 10 months, I'm no longer a diabetic, and I can now walk without my cane. Blue Zones Project opened my eyes. I have completely changed my way of living - I'm telling you, this is the best thing that has ever happened to me!"                                                           ~Theresa Zendejas, Pahoa Resident

Blue Zones Project® is a community-led well-being improvement initiative designed to make healthy choices easier through permanent changes to a community's environment, policy, and social networks. Established in 2010, Blue Zones Project is inspired by Dan Buettner, a National Geographic Fellow and New York Times best-selling author who identified five regions of the world—or Blue Zones—with the highest concentration of people living to 100 years or older. Blue Zones Project incorporates Buettner’s findings and works with communities to implement policies and programs that will move a community toward optimal health and well-being.

Currently, 37 communities in nine states have joined Blue Zones Project, impacting more than 2 million Americans. The movement includes three beach cities in California; 15 cities in Iowa; Albert Lea, Minnesota; the city of Fort Worth; and communities in Hawaii, Southwest Florida, Wisconsin, Oregon and Oklahoma. Blue Zones Project is a division of Healthways, a Sharecare company. For more information, visit bluezonesproject.com.
