Join a 10-week Walking Moai in Makiki! Blue Zones Project will be launching a walking group that is FREE to the public. The group will be self-organized and will meet on the days/times of their choosing after the initial walk on May 16.

How long will we walk? About 30 minutes, but future walks can be longer if the group would like to walk longer.

Where to Meet
Meet us at the corner of Wilder Ave. and Makiki St. near the trees and the picnic table just north of the Makiki Community Garden. Youʻll see us in blue t-shirts!

What's a Walking Moai Team?
The term "moai" (pronounced mow-eye) comes from Okinawa, Japan. It means "meeting for a common purpose." Walking Moai Teams are groups of 5 to 8 people that meet at least once a week for 10 weeks to walk throughout the community.

With a Walking Moai Team, staying healthy is easier and more fun. Teams spend time together to build or strengthen friendships while tracking their steps as they explore their neighborhoods. Many of your neighbors have already joined a team, don’t miss out on the excitement!

How do I join a Walking Moai Team and what should I expect if I join a team?
Attend the Launch Event to join a team based on your shared interests and your availability to walk each week. As a team you will determine when and where you will walk for 10 weeks. Your team leader will track and report your team's progress.

Each participant will receive a Blue Zones Project t-shirt. Each team will be eligible to win prizes, which will be awarded upon completing 10 weeks of walking together at a Finish Line Celebration event.

Please download, print, and complete this Registration Form, and bring it with you to the event. Forms will also be available at the event.
