WHAT’S INVOLVED
Participants are required to complete some online prework (on their own) in advance of the virtual training course. The course itself lasts approximately 5.5 hours, including all breaks, and presented via ZOOM.
TOPICS COVERED
Through interactive videos, breakout sessions, and activities, you will learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns, strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where to turn for help. Topics covered include:
Depression and mood disordersYou’ll learn the ALGEE action plan and how to apply it in a variety of situations, including when someone is experiencing panic attacks, suicidal thoughts or behaviors, non-suicidal self-injury, acute psychosis, overdose or withdrawal from alcohol or drug use, and reaction to traumatic events.
All Mental Health First Aid training is presented by a certified Mental Health First Aid trainer. Training is offered free of charge by Texas Health Community Hope. Advanced registration is required.
